Hambrgr in Hamilton, Ontario

I’m no burger connoisseur, but this joint is hands down the BEST burger in Hamilton. Ever since they made King William their home, they have been masterfully cleansing our palates of all the sh*tty burgers that came before them.

12910614_10153550337995922_1577760913_nHambrgrs’ motto is plain and simple they make a good f*cking burger, the goal is to focus on what a good burger entails and deliver the best experience for their customers. Making a downright delicious burger isn’t rocket science, although I believe Hambrgr has nailed the formula. A burger from here will cure the hangry (when someone is hungry and angry because they are hungry), the hungover or someone who simply is in need of some satisfaction.

The locals will be glad to know that Hambrgr uses ONLY locally sourced ingredients delivered daily to their location, obviously to ensure that their burgers are at their full personality and flavor. Every burger patty is made with fresh AAA chuck and is made right on location.

Montezuma’s Revenge

During my first visit to Hambrgr, I was able to enjoy the Montezuma’s Revenge. This burger features house pickled jalapenos, smoked cheddar, crispy onions, Sambal mayo, and iceberg lettuce. If you have the appetite of an ancient warrior, this burger will not disappoint and delivers on all levels of taste. For those of you who like a little kick to their burger definitely, try Montezuma’s Revenge when you come to Hambrgr.

Have You Ever Heard of a Patty Melt?

Have You Ever Heard of a Patty Melt?

I was also able to sample the Have You Ever Heard of a Patty Melt? courtesy of my boyfriend. This burger features caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, Russian Porter dressing, butter toasted rye bread that is certainly a classic melt. Is nothing better than a burger on a healthier bread option right? It makes you feel a little better about devouring until you can barely eat another bite, but who are we kidding? You won’t have eater’s regret after eating a burger like this one.

Of course, no meal would be complete without a fabulous side to go with it. We decided to try out the “half & half”, which was half hand cut potatoes and half sweet potatoes fries which can only be considered as the best of both worlds. The fries were served with Sambal mayo which was a perfect companion to these delicious fries.

Not only was the food great, but they also have a great atmosphere. The restaurant is small, and seating arrangements can be cozy, but it is a great spot to hit up with a couple of friends. It seems that small places are the way to go nowadays; they are cozy, intimate and add a feeling of closeness to other people who are there for the same reason you are: Good times, great food and drinks.

Hambrgr just proves that you don’t have to go much further than your own backyard to get a great homemade burger, okay so maybe it’s further than your backyard how can you say no to meat that literally melts in your mouth. Thank you Hambrgr for a mouth watering experience. Next time I’ll be back hungrier than the last time I was there.

Patricia

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada has been my home for 24 years. Growing up in here was like growing up in little Portugal and coming from a Portuguese background myself, it could never be a bad or boring in the slightest. Food is such a big part of the Portuguese culture, which is why I grew up having such an adventurous palate and eventually becoming the foodie that I am today. In Portuguese culture it is all about coming together to eat great food, break bread, drink wine and of course having your family say “come mais” while dumping spoon loads of food onto your plate. The phrase literally means “eat more” and I vaguely remember those being the first words that came out of my mouth as a child. “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well,” Virginia Woolf was all too familiar with what it is like to be hangry in today’s society, she just said it in a more profound and intellectual way. I may not be Virginia Woolf, but I can tell you this I have made it my personal mission to make people fiend for the food I eat and the words I write about food (of course in between bites of delicious gourmet pizza). To sum everything up for you in one sentence for you all out there, I write the words for food you just cannot explain.
